NYIPT proudly announces
Two Winter 2019 workshops
As we begin to look at issues related to Gender Identity and Sexual Orientation in 2019, we face a new world of possibilities. Beginning with language, we need to understand the terms and acronyms so that we can begin our dialogue with children, adolescents and their parents. Is gender binary or fluid? What is gender variant behavior? What do we do when we see a child who is gender non-conforming? How do we help the parents?
How can we as therapists support the individual gender identity, sexual orientation, and sexual expression of each of our child patients? How do therapists help parents with kids who go against the norm, and how do therapists work through their own personal countertransference triggers in today's generation?
In these two workshops we will open up ways to
discuss these important topics pertaining to sexual orientation
and gender identity from a clinical perspective. We will talk about
assessment, and how to think about issues related to coming-out and
